Chilli Rush, Jaya One

As lover of all things spicy and constantly feeling the need to put any chilli-based sauce on my food, I was particularly excited to get my noms on at Chilli Rush, Jaya One with the lunch bunch from work. It's heaven for those of us who take pleasure in the art of getting serious with peppers. 

Don't be fooled by the happy and colourful interior - these people are serious about their heat, if you're willing to take on the challenge that is.

Surprisingly, no one else was up for ordering the famous Level 1 - 10 Chilli Rush Wings. Not for the weak I say. There's a good variety of not so spicy meals on the menu for those who are not keen on braving the spicy waters.

Chicken Sandwich - RM14.90

Cheese Burger - RM22.90

Lamb Floss with rice - RM20.90

Grilled Fish with rice - RM 21.90

Now onto the main stuff. There's 10 levels of Chilli Rush wings to choose from depending how brave you are. However, if you're insane and want to set those tastebuds ablaze, they've concocted the famous Chilli Rush Challenge. The dare: To devour a dozen wings drenched in extra spicy chilli marinade in the fastest time possible. Complete the task and you just might earn a spot on their famous wall of fame.  

Of course I'm not crazy and went with their Level 5 wings because it was the midway point and I figured it would be a decent way to test my tolerance with the levels.

I dove right in and thought 'Okay, this isn't so bad'. 10 mins later, my mouth was bordering on being on fire. It was like a slow build-up of heat with every delicious bite that led to a point of almost numbness. Tasty though, just probably not a good idea to finish the entire thing by yourself. Definitely glad I stuck with level 5 and wasn't feeling overly ambitious.

Level 5 wings - RM16.50

Fatin went with the safest option of the lot, Level 1. More sweet than spicy, the marinade had a rendang like taste. Definitely a good starting point if you're not used to spice and want something kid-friendly.

Level 1 wings - RM14.90

Overall, there was almost no complaints about the food from the gang and I really enjoyed the wings despite having to take breaks in between to temporarily extinguish the ongoing fire in my mouth. The only off-putting things was that they charged us RM5 for a bottle of mineral water. Rather steep price for a not so premium establishment.
