Tino's Pizza Express, Nexus Bangsar South

Pizza definitely ranks high up in my book of comfort foods. That combination of dough that's soft on the inside and crusty on the outside with delicious toppings and tons of ooey gooey cheese is meant for so much greatness. Unfortunately some of the pizza chains here seem to do an injustice to pizza with their overly greasy versions and sad excuses for a crust.
Keen for some pizza lovin, I checked out the newly opened Tino's Pizza Express at Nexus Bangsar South. A sister brand of Chatime (okay what? pizza and bubble tea are so at the opposite ends of each other), Tino's Pizza is strategically located next to the newly opened Chatime outlet in Nexus as well.

The place looks a little commercialized with hints of Italian charm (even with uniform worn by staff). Gotta give them points for trying. Nonetheless, the decor is cozy with tons of warm lighting. Somewhat fitting to get you into the mood for some pizza.

Something rather peculiar about this place is that you're supposed to order and pay at the counter before your food is served. Hmmmm... wouldn't have been so strange if we were told this beforehand and not after we were seated and presented with the menu.
We started off with some Peanut Butter Fries. I actually expected the fries to be dipped in peanut butter batter and fried, but it was basically just normal fries drizzled with a thin peanut butter sauce. There was some beef bacon bits in it too. Slightly odd combination but seemed to work for some reason. I guess it's hard to go wrong with peanut butter :P

Tino's Pizza has a decent selection of savoury pizza's to choose from and a few sweet ones too (yes, you can even have pizza for dessert!). Sizes come in large and medium with a selection of personal pizzas for solo pizza nommers. Not sure how big their medium size would be, we started with one pizza first and got Mr. Tino's. Toppings were beef pepperoni, olives, peppers, some other stuff I can't remember and tons of gooey cheese. Big points for the pizza crust - almost no hint of grease and the texture was borderline perfect - to us at least.

Still hungry, we decided to get a second pizza. So, clearly one medium pizza isn't enough for two fairly hungry people. I was craving for something spicy, so the Mexicana it was. Hello jalapeno peppers, I love you! Once again, tons of cheese present with sausages (think it was beef) and a tangy spicy tomato sauce. Loved the Mexicana pizza and it's little punch of heat. Definitely recommended if you love your spicy stuff.

Overall, Tino's Pizza Express proved to be a satisfying pizza experience. The prices were rather reasonable too with pizzas ranging from RM20-RM25 for a medium-sized pizza. Definitely looking forward to having them open more outlets soon and decent quality pizza becoming more accessible.
