Afternoon date with the Petronas Twin Towers

How is it that in my 20 something years of living in this country, I've never once made it up our most famous landmark? Blaming this one on my high school for not organizing what would have been an awesome day trip.

There I was with a few buddies - sitting down one evening over drinks and suddenly the topic of the Twin Towers came up. Wasn't long before we concluded that none of us have ever taken in that awesome view from the top of the towers. And we all happen to be Malaysians. WHATTT.
It was decided. Determined to go that very weekend, I got cracking on how to obtain tickets. Procedure seemed simple, go to ticket counter at the KLCC councourse. Present MyKad and pay for ticket.

When we went on a Saturday to get tickets for Sunday, we were told that it was fully booked. Oh bummer. Instead, we got tickets for the following Sunday, booking the 5.15pm slot. Tickets are rather cheap if you're Malaysian at RM25 a pop.

Forward to one week later and KLCC was calling. We got to the concourse area and exchanged our tickets for visitor tags while queueing up to get in. It was supposed to be a 20 min guided tour. Woooo!

The tour begin and we were shown this really cool holographic video on twin tower facts. Boasting a height of 452m and housing a total of 88 storeys in each building, the Petronas Twin Towers currently hold the position of 8th tallest skyscraper in the world - not overly impressive, but it did claim the no.1 spot in back in 1998 until it was dethroned in 2004 when Taipei 101 made it's debut.

Okay, let's get started! Two elevator rides later and we reached the 2 storey Skybridge, which connects Level 41 & 42 of both the towers.

Only halfway up the towers but the view was already amazing!
And just like everyone in our tour group, we started posing for pics before precious minutes ran out.
Obligatory Skybridge group selfie

After what seemed like a few minutes, but was actually about 10 mins, we were chased by the group leader to proceed to the next part of the adventure. It involves the number 8 & 6 ;)
So many elevator rides on this tour :)
A few seconds later (these elevators move at crazy speeds without you feeling a thing), and hello 86th floor. The view from the Observatory Deck was just so... breathtakingamazingcrazy? I'll let the pictures do the talking..

One of my fav pics from that day

There's a bunch of cool displays at the Observatory Deck. Fun stuff to look at if you don't spend all those valuable minutes taking in that amazing view and snapping pics.

If you've only been staring at the Petronas Twin Towers from the outside all this while, it's definitely time to get a ticket and get on that elevator. After all, folks from all over the world come here to see it for themselves, why should we miss out on what one of our country's best attraction has to offer. Believe me when I say, that view is beyond worth it :)
